Alvina J. Kray was born Oct. 16, 1903 at Strawberry Point, the daughter of Henry and Meta Steenblock Kray. She attended school at Castle Grove #5. On Nov. 15, 1922, she was united in marriage with George Henry Dirks at her parents' home at Castle Grove. The couple farmed in Castle Grove and Wayne Townships. Survivors include two daughters, DeLoris Feldman of Monticello, Darlene Moncrief of rural Anamosa; a daughter-in-law, Jennie Dirks of Monticello; one sister, Matilda Schoon of Monticello; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and nine great-greatgrandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband on July 9, 1968; one son, Marion; two brothers, John and Henry Kray; two sisters, Margaret Brokens, Freda Ortgies and a great-grandchild, Wendy.
