Description	:	2nd wife of Oscar Erway. Daughter of Samuel Chauncey Nash and Amelia Barbara Brodbeck. Amanda Almira (Nash) Erway, daughter of Samuel and Amelia Nash, was born near Oregan, MO., on September 26, 1869. -She came to Kansas in 1882 with her parent's who settled on a homestead in Conkling township, 21 miles northwest of Larned, KS. There she experienced the hardships of the early pioneer days. -On Oct. 16, 1888, Amanda married Oscar Erway. To this union were born eight children. Amanda's husband died September 2,1931, and a son, Lee, died at the age of one year. -Mr. and Mrs. Erway lived on their homestead in Morton township formerly Pawnee township, until 1920, when they moved to Larned. -Mrs. Erway is survived by her seven children: Mrs. Clara King and Edgar of Burdett, Harvey of Rozel, Mrs. Letha Walker, Melvin and Mrs. Alice Lane of Detroit, Mich., and Edna of the home; also four sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Susie Johnson of Noreatur, Mrs. Ida Payton of Cimmeron, Mrs. Della Rose of Hadium, John Nash of Hamilton City, CA and Samuel Nash of Kinsley, KS. -Amanda was a Christian mother with a kind and loving disposition and always considerate of the welfare of others. She attended the Pentecostal Church. -Amanda had suffered from cerebral hemorrhage for several years. Last Feb. 18th she became seriously ill and two weeks later was taken to the home of her daughter, Mrs. George King, where she died on March 2nd.
