Description	:	Amanda C. Epley, youngest child of John and Sophia Epley, was born in Knox county (sic), Illinois, on January 12, 1873, and passed away September 29, 1937, at her home south of Cadams. She was aged 64 years, 9 months and 17 days. In the year 1874, when less than 2 years of age, the Epley family moved in a covered wagon to Johnson county (sic), Nebr., locating near Elk Creek. Epley, youngest child of John and Sophia Epley, was born in Knox county (sic), Illinois, on January 12, 1873, and passed away September 29, 1937, at her home south of Cadams. She was aged 64 years, 9 months and 17 days. In the year 1874, when less than 2 years of age, the Epley family moved in a covered wagon to Johnson county (sic), Nebr., locating near Elk Creek. On November 4, 1900, she was united in marriage to Jay Grove at Elk Creek,, Nebr. To this union three children were born: Lola Re, wife of Whitfield Adamson of Nelson, Nebr., Elza E. and Eldon Gerald Grove, both of Cadams, Nebr. In February, 1909, the Grove family moved to Nuckolls county (sic), Nebraska, locating one mile east of Cadams, One years later the family moved to the farm south of Cadams, where they have since resided. At the age of 19 years she united with the Mt. Zion Methodist Church at Elk Creek. Later when the family Moved to Cadams, she transfrred (sic) her membership to the Cadams Methodist Church. Only recently with the closing of the Cadams Methodist Church, she continued her faith with the Methodist Church of Nora, Nebr. Mrs. Grove is survived by her husband, three children, two daughters-in-law and one son-in-law; five grandchildren, and four brothers: George and Charly Epley of Nora, Harve Epley of Elk Creek; and Ed Epley of Burlington, Colorado; Ira Davis, a nephew, of Lincoln, who made his home with her and her father for 15 years; and a brother-in-law, Lee Groves, who has made his home with the deceased and family for many years last past. Her father and mother and two sisters, Harriet and Emma, have already preceded her in death. Her memory shall remain with a host of other relatives. Mrs. Grove was a splendid woman, a kind loving wife and mother. She was happiest in her home and home duties, yet ever ready to do more than her share of whatever was needed in the community. All during her illness she complained so little and was ready and eager to meet her God. She will be greatly missed by her relatives and friends. Her memory shall never be forgotten in her home and community. Sometimes at dusk it seems That we must slip away and search for those who've gone! That we must take a road and walk and walk. Starmist on our eyes, and slippers drenched with dew We hope to find our loved ones far beyond In memories that fill our sorrowing hearts. Or when we take a road as we must do And find just loneliness around us all We should pause and think again For God knows best and takes from earth Our loved ones and gives them tender care, He hopes that you and I will understand, And help each other in our load to bear! -- Elmer L. Kearney, Glenvil, Nebr. Funeral services were held from the Presbyterian church at Cadams Friday afternnon at one-thirty, conducted by Rev. M.H. Kruse of Nora. Interment was at Superior. The pallbearers were two sons Eldon and Elza Groves, the son-in-law, Whitfield Adamson, and three nephews, Ira Davis, John Epley and Earl Epley.
