Description	:	Elza E. Grove, one of three children of Henry Jasper Grove and Amanda C. Epley, was born on September 15, 1904 on a farm near Elk Creek, NE. He passed away on December 27, 2002 at the Superior Good Samaritan Center in Superior, NE at the age of 98 years, 3 months and 12 days. Epley, was born on September 15, 1904 on a farm near Elk Creek, NE. He passed away on December 27, 2002 at the Superior Good Samaritan Center in Superior, NE at the age of 98 years, 3 months and 12 days. At the age of four, Elza moved with his parents to Nuckolls County locating near Cadams. He received his education in a two-room schoolhouse at Cadams and graduated from the 9th grade in 1921. On September 15, 1926, he was united in marriage to Hattie Mildred Kern at her parents home in Cadams. Born to this union were three children, Jack, Clifford and Nancy. In his younger years he was a member of the Cadams Methodist Church and later transferred his membership to the Nora United Methodist Church. He also was a charter member of the Superior Elks Lodge No. 2197. Elza farmed in the Cadams area and his love for farming and livestock remained with him during his entire lifetime. In 1950 the family moved one mile south of Cadams and on this farmstead was a landmark round barn. Elza enjoyed showing visitors the inside of the barn. In his younger years he like (sic) playing pool, bowling and gardening. Elza lived on the farm until November 1998, then became a resident of the Superior Good Samaritan Center. Elza was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Amanda, his wife Mildred in 1985. Two sons, Jack in 1956 and Clifford in 1974, one sister, Lola Adamson and twin great-grandchildren, Adrienne and Ethan Hofts. He is survived by his daughter, Nancy Hofts and husband Ron of Superior, NE., daughter-in-law, Ella Grove of Superior, NE., one brother, Eldon Grove of Superior, NE., grandchildren Sherry Gebers and husband Dave of Nora, NE, Troy Hofts of Superior, NE. Kirk Grove and wife Judy of Superior, NE, Rajean Elting and husband Perry and Jerry Grove of Superior, NE. Great-Grandchildren Kyle and Brady Grove of Superior, NE, Knud and Stein Elting of Edgar, NE, Stacia and Haley Gebers of Nora, NE, Reed and Amy Hofts of Superior, NE. One great-great-grandchild, Ty Shaw of Hastings, NE, along with a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held on Monday, December 30, 2002 at 2:00 PM from Megrue-Price Funeral Home Chapel in Superior, NE. with Pastor Dorthea Fairbanks officiating. Music was "How Great Thou Art: and "There Goes My Everything", with Carol Shambaugh as soloist and Carlita Price as Organist. Pallbearers were Bill Erickson, Danny Corman, Kenny Corman, Curtis Jensen, Darrell Jensen, and Roy Rempe. Honorary pallbearers were Harold Uhrmacher, Leonard Rempe, LaVern Erickson, Leon Simonsen, Beauford Hoyer and Leslie Erickson. Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery at Superior, NE.
