At the age of 11 years she moved with her parents to Unionville, Mo. On May 25, 1883 she was united in marriage to Harvey Knight. To this union nine children were born, Henry, Jessie, Claude, Clyde, Ethel, Mattie, Otis, Edward and Ina. Two of these children, Clyde and Ina preceded her in death. On September 20, 1883 Mr. and Mrs. Knight came to Delphos, Kansas making the journey in a covered wagon. In March 1884 they bought an 80 acre farm six miles northwest of Glasco and settled there. By careful management and hard work they built a substantial home and added to the original farm until it is now a well improved ranch. She has made this her home continuously since that time with the exception of two years spent in Glasco. Her husband passed away January 20, 1930. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Jessie Slifer of Salina, Mrs. Ethel Beck and Mrs. Mattie Dalrymple of Glasco; four sons, Henry of Glasco, Eddie of Wichita, Kansas, and Claude and Otis of the home; two sisters, Mrs. Martha Teasley of Glasco and Mrs. Mary Siders of Delphos; and five grandchildren and other relatives and a host of friends. For more than seven years she has been in poor health, throughout this time she was tenderly cared for by her children. Knowing that everything possible was being done for her, she was always patient and very appreciative. A home loving mother, she was ever thoughtful and kind to her family. She will be remembered for her many kind and helpful deeds. Her visits to the sick and her sympathy in times of sorrow have cheered many who suffered. In her later years she was known to her friends as "Grandma Knight." Several years ago she united with the Methodist Church in Glasco and gave constant evidence of a saving faith in her Lord. She expressed a beautiful Christian courtesy and devotion in religious matters and enjoyed prayer. The pastor of the church always found a warm welcome in her home. She was a loyal supporter of the church and its work. She always spoke a good word for everyone. As a kind and loving mother she will be sadly missed in the home and as a good neighbor and friend, by all who knew her. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Methodist Episcopal church with the pastor Rev. Roy Allsbury officiating. Interment was made in the Glasco cemetery under the direction of Lott & Stine.
