Read More	The Hooper Sentinel January 11, 1923 Former Hooper Lady Brot Here For Burial The fore part of last week Mr. and Mrs. Hiram Rodgers received word that their daughter, Mrs. John W. Smith, of Central City, had suffered a cerebral hemorrhage on New Years day and that her condition was serious. In response to this message Mr. and Mrs. Wm.Rodgers left for there Wednesday afternoon to be with his sister during her affliction and were with her when the end came at 3 o'clock last Sunday morning. Mr. and Mrs. Rodgers returned home Sunday afternoon. The remains, accompanied by Mr. Smith and daughter, Miss Mary, were brought to Hooper Monday evening and taken to the Rodgers home. Tuesday afternoon they were transferred to the Grace Lutheran church where the funeral services were held at 2 o'clock, Rev. R. W. Livers preaching the words of comfort to the sorrowing relatives and to the many friends assembled there to pay their last homage to a beloved woman. Interment was made in the Hooper cemetery beside the body of her son, Albert. Rev. Livers read he following obituary; "Amanda daughter of Hiram and Mary Jane Rodgers, was born at New Cambria, Macon County, Mo. March 25, 1865, and died at the farm home near Central City, Nebr., January 7, 1923, at the age of 55 years, 9 months and 12 days. She came with her parents to this community in 1871, when as pioneers they located in the Admah neighborhood. She was married to John W. Smith, at Fremont, Sept. 2, 1903, and for seven years their home was established south of that city in Saunders county, east of Cedar Bluffs. For twelve years the home has been at Central City. Two children were born to this union, a son, Albert, who departed this life six years ago today at the age of 12, and a daughter, Mary, who with the husband and father sorrowfully accompany the loved one to her last resting place. Besides the aged parents , she leaves behind five brothers and seven sisters. they are, John of Crookston William and Nelson or Dick of Hooper, Perry of Omaha, Jess of Rapid City. S. D., Mrs. Arvilla Stenzel of Gridley, Calif., Mrs. Belle Nelson of Creighton, Mrs. Laura Nelson of Fremont, Mrs. Lucy Hite of Potter, Mrs. Myrtle Harzke of Schuyler, Mrs. Clara Moyer of Herrick, S. D. and Mrs. Emma Baker of Otis, Colorado. With the exception of Mesdames Stenzel, Harzke and Moyer, all were here for the funeral as were also Mrs. Perry Rodgers and son, Roy, of Omaha.
