Read More	The Hooper Sentinel January 13, 1927 Funeral Of Mrs. Hiram Rodgers Held Friday Mrs. Hiram Rodgers, one of the most widely known and highly respected pioneer residents of Dodge county died at her home in east Hooper last Wednesday afternoon January 5, after an illness of about three weeks duration. Mary Jane Jennings was born at Malta, Ohio Nov 5, 1847, and died at Hooper, Nebr. Jan. 5, 1927, having reached the age of 79 years and 2 months. She was married to Hiram Rodgers her bereaved husband, on March 3, 1864, at Shawnee, Perry Co., Ohio. To this union fifteen children were born, four of whom preceded their mother in death, eleven remaining to mourn her loss. Mr. and Mrs. Rodgers came west from Ohio in 1871, fifty six years ago located on a farm 12 miles northeast of Hooper near Admah, Nebr. Here they lived for nearly twenty years coming to Hooper about thirty-eight years go and locating on their farm which joins the city on the east, the place which was "home" to Mrs. Rodgers until summoned from her earthly dwelling to her eternal home in heaven. Deceased was a member of the local Methodist church, a true believer and a follower of God's word. In her many years of residence in this community, her helpful, neighborly ways and her many acts of friendship created for her a large circle of true friends by whom she will be greatly missed. Mr. and Mrs. Rodgers passed their 62nd wedding anniversary last March 3rd, both at that time being in the best of health. It is not often that it is given to two people to enjoy over sixty years of blessed companionship and how greatly she will be missed by the sorrowing husband, he alone can tell. Her departure is also mourned by eleven children, 32 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, besides numerous distant relatives and a host of friends. The living children are Mrs. Belle Nelson of Hooper, Mrs. Laura Martin of Fremont, Mrs. Lucy Hite of Hooper, Mrs. Myrtle Harzke of Schuyler, Mrs. Clara Moyer of Schuyler, Mrs. Emma Baker of Burdette, Colo., John Rodgers of Crookston, Nebr., Will Rodgers of Hooper, Jess Rodgers of Rapid City, S. D., Perry Rodgers of Fremont and Dick Rodgers of Hooper. Out of town relatives and friends who attended the services were Mr. and Mrs. Abner Martin, Mr. and Mrs. Perry Rodgers, Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Nelson, Mrs. D. E. F. Mauer, Mrs. Walter Benson, Mrs. Alfred Martin, Miss Evelyn Martin and Art Cedardahl of Fremont, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Harzke and daughter, Hazel and Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Moyer and sons, Henry and Kenneth of Schuyler, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Skoog, Mrs. Anna Peters, Mrs. Lou Rasmussen and Mrs. John Hargens of Scribner, Henry Peterson of Wisner, Mrs. Ira W. Baker of Burdette, Colo., John W. Smith and Mrs. Ed White and babe of Central City and Mr. and Mrs. John Rodgers of Crookston.
