Read More	The Hooper Sentinel Feb. 18, 1943 Page 1 Rites Held For Former Citizen Mrs. Abner Martin, 73, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Hiram Rodgers, of Hooper; passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Arthur Skoog, of Fremont, Sunday afternoon after a five year period of ill health. Laura Rodgers was born in Brown Grove, Ill., February 19, 1870 and came with her pioneer parents via the covered wagon route to the Admah community in 1871; the family moving to Hooper in 1888. Her first marriage to John Nelson took place February 19, 1891, her husband dying in 1920. Five years later, on October 2, 1925, she was wed to Abner H. Martin, who with the daughter mentioned above and a son, Clinton Nelson of Omaha, survive. Also surviving are four sisters and five brothers. they are Mrs. Lucy Hite and Will Rodgers, Hooper; Mrs. J. H. Moyer and Mrs. Emma Baker, Pasadena, Calif.; Mrs. Bell Nelson, Fremont, John Rodgers, Crookston; Perry and Nelson Rodges, Oakland, Calif.; Jess Rodgers, Rapid City. S. D. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the First Baptist church at Fremont and burial was made in Ridge cemetery.
