Description	:	Amos Joseph Duey, second son of John and Mary Duey was born near Carlisle, in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, on April 7, 1880. As a boy of about 11 or 12 he came with his family to Chester. He spent most of his life in Chester and the nearby vicinity. He was baptized in the Christian faith in infancy. He united with the Methodist church (sic) in Chester on March 1, 1903 and had been a member here since that time. He was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge, and for nearly a year had made his home in the Odd... Read More	Amos Joseph Duey, second son of John and Mary Duey was born near Carlisle, in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, on April 7, 1880. As a boy of about 11 or 12 he came with his family to Chester. He spent most of his life in Chester and the nearby vicinity. He was baptized in the Christian faith in infancy. He united with the Methodist church (sic) in Chester on March 1, 1903 and had been a member here since that time. He was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge, and for nearly a year had made his home in the Odd Fellows Home at York, Nebraska, where he passed away on November 18, 1949. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Charles and Jacob. He is survived by his sister, Mrs. Elizabeth M. Norman of Chester; a nephew J.D. Norman of York, Nebraska; two neices (sic), Martha Messman and Mrs. Zora Mae Messman of Chester; two aunts, Mrs. Sarah Smarsh and Mrs. Emma Duey of Chester; besides many cousins and a host of friends. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church (sic), Chester, Nebraska, Sunday, November 20, 1949, at 2:30 p.m. Rev. James K. Irwin in charge. A quartet, Mrs. Ruth Eickman, Mrs. Margaret Norman, G.D. Van Cleef and Ival Stutzman sang accompanied by Mrs. Garnet Haifleigh. The pallbearers were: Geo. Allsman, Hubert Skucius, Fred Thompson, Geo. Fraley, Paul Miller and J.F. Gausman. Interment was made in the Chester Cemetery, Chester, Nebr. Chester Herald, Thursday, November 24, 1949
