Description	:	Andrew Emil Olson, the son of Abraham and Mary Olson was born April 23, 1871 at Rock Island, Illinois. He died of natural causes July 9, 1961 at Fort Dodge at the age of ninety years, two months and sixteen days. Emil's father and mother were born in Sweden. When they came to this country they settled first at Rock Island, Illinois. Then after Emil's birth they came to Hesperian in Webster County, later known as Burnside. Read More	Andrew Emil Olson, the son of Abraham and Mary Olson was born April 23, 1871 at Rock Island, Illinois. He died of natural causes July 9, 1961 at Fort Dodge at the age of ninety years, two months and sixteen days. Emil's father and mother were born in Sweden. When they came to this country they settled first at Rock Island, Illinois. Then after Emil's birth they came to Hesperian in Webster County, later known as Burnside. Emil had two brothers, Otis and Roy, and three sisters, Sylvia, Melinda and Mary Victoria. Victoria later became the wife of Edwin L. Rufer. Emil attended the rural schools in this vicinity, then Highland Park College and the Teacher's College at Cedar Falls. He taught a rural school for a number of years. He was married to Miss Edith Graves in 1906. To this union were born three children, Eunice, Grace and Lucille, who died in infancy. His wife passed away in 1912. Mr. Olson farmed for a number of years and then engaged in the mercantile business for about 50 years. He was a member of the school board for years and was instrumental in the building of the Burnside Consolidated School which was dedicated in September, 1923. He maintained an active interest in the school and in the education of youth even in his late years. Mr. Olson also had an active part in erecting the Baptist church in Burnside, and was a faithful member as long as his health permitted, encouraging those of his family who followed after him in faithfulness.
