Shipley, Longtime Resident, Buried Here Sunday Paralytic Stroke Takes 72 year-old Man; Lived Here for 50 Years Andrew Thomas Shipley was the son of Lemuel and Luticia Shipley. He was born at Atlanta, Illinois, February 24, 1861, On July 12, 1933, he suffered a paralytic stroke from which he never recovered and on July 20 he passed away at the home of his son, Roy Shipley, in Edgar, Nebraska, at the age of 72 years, 4 months and 26 days. At the age of 23 he came from Illinois to Edgar, Nebraska, and has lived here all his life except a few years that he lived in Franklin, Nebraska. In 1870 he was married to Nannie Simerall. To this union two children were born. In 1884 his wife preceded him in death. In 1886 he was married to Sadie Simerall. To this union seven children were born, two dying in infancy. His son, Orien, preceded him just seven weeks ago. His wife preceded him in death on March 22, 1902. In 1903 he married Katie Wallace and she preceded him in death December 21, 1931. Since that time he has made his home with his son, Roy Shipley, in Edgar, Nebraska. He leaves to mourn his departure, four sons, Roy and Lemuel of Edgar, Nebraska; Claus of Oak, Nebraska and Glennie of Fairbury, Nebraska; two daughters, Mrs. Meda Kinnison of Angus, Nebraska, and Mrs. Opal Kinnison of Akron, Colorado; one stepdaughter, Mrs. May Shipley, of Edgar, Nebraska, three sisters, Mrs. Amy Richards of Edgar, Mrs. Hannah Richards of Atkinson, Nebraska and Mrs. Millie Rousey of Grand Island, Nebraska, 18 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends. He was a kind and loving father, never having a harsh word to say. When the mists have risen above us As our Father knows His own, Face to face with those that love us We shall know as we are known. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Shipley conducted by Rev. S. G. Rasmusson, pastor of the Methodist church. The male quartette of the Methodist church Guy Green, Ed Cushing, Ralph McKinney and Irvin Essinger, sang, with Mrs. W. L. Hull at the piano. Pall bearers were Wm.
