Andrew Tordrup dies Saturday in California A former Superiorite, Andrew Tordrup, died Saturday, May 25, at the Paramount General Hospital at Paramount, Calif., at the age of 60 years, 2 months and 11 days, after a lengthy illness. Funeral services are held at the Megrue-Price Funeral Home Monday afternoon with Pastor Ray Ensign officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery. Masonic lector was Jens P. Nielsen. The flag folding and presentation were by Lee Williams and Stan Elledge, Taps were by Robert Noren and Wayne Megrue. Mr. Tordrup was born March 14, 1914, the first of seven children to Christen P. and Dagmar O. Tordrup at Ruskin, Neb. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith early in life. Mr. Tordrup received his education in the Hardy rural and city schools. He served his country during World War II from 1941 to 1945, spending much of his time in the Canal Zone with a balloon barrage unit, attaining the rank of staff sargeant. After the war he worked for Armour and Company and Blue Cross Serum Company in Superior, 1952, he moved to Los Angeles, Calif., and in 1956 he took the civil service exam and entered the postal service as a carrier in Compton, Calif. He remained in this job until his health failed in 1973. Oct. 12, 1968, he was united in marriage to Athelene Reynolds in Compton, Calif. Survivors are his wife, Athlene; his parents, Mrs. and Mrs. Chris Tordrup of the Good Samaritan Center, Superior, a brother, August Tordrup, Kenosha, Wisc., sisters, Ella Madison of Lakewood Colo., Ina Fairless of Moses Lake, Wash., and Margaret Ann Hanson of Superior; three nieces, Charlotte Cosgrove, Lynette Madison and Marsha Dillon; and three nephews, Lewis Madison, Gary Tordrup and James Madison and many friends. Two brothers, Gilbert and Carl, preceded him in death. Mr. Tordrup was a member of the Superior Lodge of the Masons and a past commander of St. Mihiel Post of the American Legion.
