Description	:	Aneta Louise Schindler was born April 24, 1914 on the family farm near McClusky, ND. Her parents, Jacob and Susanna (Schmidt) Schindler, were both immigrants from S. Russia, who had settled first in South Dakota, where they met and married. They later moved to Temvik and later to McClusky, North Dakota. She was the 6th of 7 children, out of 12, born to Jacob and Susanna, who survived to adulthood. Aneta's life centered on home, church and school. They later moved to Temvik and later to McClusky, North Dakota. She was the 6th of 7 children, out of 12, born to Jacob and Susanna, who survived to adulthood. Aneta's life centered on home, church and school. She attended school in McClusky, and graduated as valedictorian from Mcclusky High School in 1932. She attended Ellendale Normal for one year, taught country school in Streeter, ND one year, after which she because Deputy County Treasurer, with her brother-in-law,Charles G. Neff, County Treasurer, for 4 years. On June 4, 1939, she married Edwin A. Gruneich, a ministerial student from Kulm, ND. They pastored a church in Lehr, ND and later moved to Illinois where they both attended Naperville Evang. Theological Seminary. During WWII, she was an inspector in a defense plant making airplane engines. Together, E.A. and Aneta served many church parishes in Illinois, North Dakota, Nebraska, South Dakota, Minnesota and Iowa, before retiring in 1977. Aneta was very active in their churches, teaching Sunday School, providing leadership in youth work, choir and women's ministries. Aneta enjoyed many hobbies -- travel, camping, gardening, reading, ceramics, crossword puzzles, and knitting. She won numerous awards for her creative writing, which included poetry, essays, drama, and devotional materials. Together with E.A., she researched, compiled and published genealogical histories for both the Schindler and Gruneich families. She was an excellent cook and especially enjoyed preparing German ethnic cuisine. Following retirement, they lived in Belen, New Mexico and later moved to Sioux Falls, SD in 1989 to be closer to family. Aneta died on March 1, 2000 at Good Samaritan Village nursing home in Sioux Falls. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters - Martha Neff, Emma Thompson, and Lydia Bettger; her twin brothers, Jack and John, and little brother, Teddy, and sister, Helen. She was survived by her husband, three sons, one daughter and their spouses, 10 grandchildren, and by one sister. Aneta's memorial service was held at Good Samaritan Village Chapel on March 9, 2000. A private family service for burial of urn at McClusky Cemetery, McClusky, ND was on July 24, 2000. ~ bio written by Margo Gruneich Erick (niece)
