Read More	Death Claims Mrs. Angelica Binford, Resident of City Sixty-four Years After an illness of a week of pneumonia, Mrs. Angelica Binford, 84, widow of Thaddeus Binford, for many years a well-known lawyer of this city, died at her home, 110 North Second avenue, at 6:30 this morning. Mrs. Binford had been seriously ill from the first, and due to her advanced age the end was not unexpected. Mrs. Binford had been a resident of Marshalltown more than sixty-four years, and had made her home all this time on the same lot on which the present Binford home stands. She was a woman of many lovable qualities and had many friends who will mourn her passing. She always had been very alert mentally, took a keen interest in all present-day affairs, and at the last presidential election was one of the first women of her ward to cast her ballot. Mrs. Binford was born Angelica Beasley, Feb. 11, 1844, at Decatur, Brown county, Ohio, a daughter of Nathaniel H. and Jane West Beasley. They came west to Indiana when their daughter Angelica was 13 and settled on a farm near Lafayette. Here Miss Beasley attended school, and later the Farmers' Institute, a Quaker seminary near Lafayette. On Oct. 18, 1864, at Lafayette, Miss Beasley became the wife of Thaddeus Binford, a young Ohioan who had come to Marshalltown the June before to practice law. In November the young people came here to make their home. The weather was bitter cold, and instead of omnibuses running between the Northwestern station and the Marshall House, then the leading hotel, which stood on the present site of the First National Bank building, a bobsled was used to convey the young attorney and his bride to the hotel. Mr. and Mrs. Binford went to housekeeping in a little frame story-and-a-half house 12x16 on the lot where the present Binford home stands, and which was replaced by the newer home some years later. Mrs. Binford was the last of her father's family of seven children, four sons and three daughters. In her immediate family Mrs. Binford is survived by three of her six children. They are Eugene B. Binford, of Amarillo, Tex.; Miss Jessie Binford, Chicago, and Mrs. Wallace H. Arney, of this city. The other children were Luella May, who died in infancy, Feb. 7, 1868; Margaret, who became the wife of Joseph C. Hisey and died Oct. 12, 1887, and Mamie L., who died Feb. 28, 1894. Mr. Binford died March 11, 1917. Mrs. Binford was a member of the Methodist church, the aid society of the church, the Witenagemote Club and Spinning Wheel Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 4 o'clock from the Binford home, in charge of Rev. L. NV. Harper, of Central Church of Christ. Rev. Mr. Harper is to conduct the service because of the fact that Mrs. Binford's pastor, Rev. S. E. Ellis, is confined to his home due to an injury sustained in a fall.
