Eggink Final rites for Mrs. H. K. Eggink, who died Thursday evening, December 24, in the Colonial Hospital in Rochester, Minn., were held Monday, December 28, in the Central Reformed church. Services were in charge of Rev. Brouwer, pastor of the Trinity Reformed church at Orange City. The remains were laid to rest in the Sioux Center cemetery. Brief services were held at the home, preceding the church service. Scripture was read by Rev. Brouwer and prayer was offered by Rev. J. M. Dykstra, pastor of the First Christian Reformed of Sioux Center. The church service was conducted by Rev. Brouwer: with prayer by Rev. L. Brunsting, pastor of the First Reformed church and a few remarks by Rev. Maynard Kenning, pastor of the Second Christian Reformed church, who became a close friend of Mrs. Eggink, after her arrival at Rochester. "He Leadeth Me," "Oh, How Happy are They," and "The Old Rugged Cross," favorite hymns of the deceased, were sung by a quartette composed of Mrs. Wm. Maris, Mrs. Neal Jongewaard, Peter B.Mouw and George Jansma. Guards of honor were formed by the Ladies Missionary Auxiliary, of which organization Mrs. Eggink was a member; and by the Boy Scouts, Henry Eggink Jr. being their Commander. Pallbearers were R. Van Deest, L. Redeker, D. D. Roelofs, Wm. Van Steenwyk, A. Arendsen and P. B. Mouw. Mrs. Eggink, nee Angelina Boeyink the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Boeyink, was born September 28, 1878, in Alto, Wisconsin. At the age of seven years, she came with her parents to Sioux Center, where they made their home on a farm a few miles northwest of town. On February 28, 1901, she was married to Henry K. Eggink; who with their children, namely Clarence, Henry, Christine, Johanna and Mabel, remain to mourn the loss of their beloved wife and mother. Three brothers and one sister also survive. They are Gerrit, John and Ralph Boeyink, all of Sioux Center, and Mrs. Wm. Kleene, living near Hull. Mrs. Eggink was preceded in death by a brother, Henry Boeyink and a sister, Mrs. Cynthia Van Peursem. For almost a year Mrs. Eggink had been ailing with heart disease and goiter. On December 7, she was taken to Rochester for treatment and underwent a goiter operation Tuesday, December 22. Death came on Christmas eve. Despite her frail health Mrs. Eggink remained cheerful and uncomplaining. Her ready smile and sunny disposition won her scores of friends until her health would not permit. Mrs. Eggink was very active in church work. The many floral tributes bespoke the esteem in which Mrs. Eggink was held. The bereaved family has the sympathy of the entire community.
