Read More	Chester Herald (Chester, NE), Thursday, February 11, 1937; pg. 4 SCHLEUFER - TIETJEN A simple but very impressive wedding was solemnized at the St. Paul's Lutheran church (sic) in Byron, Sunday, February 7th, when Anita Schleufer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Schleufer, became the bride of Arnold Tietjen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Tietjen. The bride was charming in a gown of white velvet, fashioned on simple lines. She wore a cap veil, and carried a shower bouquet of pink and white carnations and roses. Miss Hilda Tietjen, sister of the groom, was bridesmaid. She wore a frock of Royal Blue. The little flower girls, nieces of the groom, the Misses Bernice ad Florence Tietjen, were lovely in frocks of pink, and carried a large basket with pink roses. Elmer Schleufer, cousin of the bride, was best man. The choir of which Mrs. Tietjen was a former member, rendered the very beautiful and appropriate selection "Ich Bete An Der Macht Der Liebe ." The marriage lines were read by the Rev. Schardt, who also married the bride's parents nearly twenty-five years ago. Following the ceremony, a wedding dinner was served at the Schleufer home for members of the families. Both Mr. and Mrs. Tietjen were born and reared in this vicinity and are well liked by everyone. They will make their home on a farm east of Byron, and their many friends extend congratulations. Those from a distance to attend the ceremony were Mr. and Mrs. Richard Beckmann and family, of Athol, Kans., and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Tietjen and family of Colorado Springs, Colo. ======================================== The Belleville Telescope (Belleville, KS), Thursday, January 8, 1998; pg. 9 Anita Schleufer Tietjen Anita Bertha Marie Tietjen, daughter of Otto and Ella Allermann Schleufer, was born February 7,1917, in Republic County, Kansas, and died January 4, 1998, at the Parkview Haven Nursing Home, Deshler, Nebraska, at the age of 80 years, 10 months and 27 days. She attended Ash Grove Public School, Republic County, Kansas. She worked for several years in the Korner Kafe in Byron, Nebraska. She was united in marriage to Arnold W. Tietjen on February 7, 1937, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Byron, Nebraska, and to this union four children were born. She was active in St. Paul's Ladies Aid and held membership and offices in Byron Busy Bee Extension Club. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Arnold in 1975, a sister, Lilly, twin granddaughters and a grandson. She is survived by two daughters, Rosalie Clair of Springfield, Missouri, and Donnalie Fintel of Valley, Nebraska, two sons, Martin Tietjen of Superior, Nebraska, and Joseph Tietjen of Lincoln, Nebraska, eight grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and three step-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, January 7, 1998, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Byron, Nebraska, with Rev. Howard Schroeder officiating. Interment was made in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Byron, Nebraska.
