The bride was charming in a gown of white satin, fashioned on simple lines. She wore a cap, veil, and carried a shower bouquet of pink carnations and calla lilies. Her sister and bridesmaid, Miss Anita Schleufer wore a frock of light green, and Miss Hilda Tietjen, sister of the groom, as Maid of Honor, wore a frock of blue and carried a sheaf bouquet. The little flower girls, nieces of the groom, Miss Lorna Tietjen and Miss Henrietta Tietjen, were lovely in frocks of yellow and carried a large basket with yellow flowers. Arnold Tietjen, brother of the groom was best man. The choir, of which Mrs. Tietjen was a former member, rendered the very beautiful and appropriate selection, "The Lord is My Shepherd." The marriage lines were read by the Rev. Schardt who also married the bride's parents nearly twenty-two years ago. Following the ceremony, a wedding dinner was served at the Schleufer home for members of the families. Both Mr. and Mrs. Tietjen were born and reared in this vicinity and are well liked by everyone. Tietjen Lilly E. Tietjen, daughter of Otto and Ella Allermann Schleufer was born January 26, 1913, in Republic County near Byron, Nebraska at the farm home, and died October 27, 1996, at the Parkview Haven Nursing Home in Deshler, Nebraska, at the age of 83 years. She attended Ash Grove Public School and a half year at Byron High School, when she was required to work on the farm. She was united in marriage to Theodore Teitjen (sic) on February 4, 1934, at the farm home and to this union three children were born, Theodore, Jr., Gladys and Gloria. They began their life together on a farm in the Byron community and continued farming throughout their life together in the Bryon area. In 1976, Lilly moved to Deshler and in January 1992, she went to Park Haven, because of her physical problems. She helped start a ladies' mission group at the St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Byron, and was an active member. She joined St. Peter Lutheran Church and ELCAW in 1962 and managed the Cradle Roll for 25 years. She was an active member and officer in Byron Busy Bees Extension Club. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Theodore, in a tractor accident in 1973. She is survived by one son, Theodore Tietjen, Jr., Grant, Nebraska, two daughters, Gladys Tietjen, Chester, Nebraska, and Gloria Mason, Elkhorn, Nebraska, five grandchildren, a sister, Anita Tietjen, Deshler, Nebraska. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 29, 1996, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, rural Byron, with Rev. David Nordstrom officiating. Interment was made at St. John's Cemetery, rural Byron.
