Nickels on Aug. 3, 1902. ------------- Fairfield Daily Ledger Wednesday July 1, 1931 Pg. 5 Col. 2 FORMER LOCAL RESIDENT DEAD Mrs. Anna Nickles (sic) Passed Away in Minnesota Today Mrs. Anna Nickles (sic), for thirty years a resident of Fairfield died in the St. Joseph's hospital in Mankato, Minn., early this morning. The body will be brought to Fairfield and services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the Murray Funeral home in charge of Dr. U. S. Smith. Burial in Fairfield City cemetery (sic. actually buried in Evergreen cemetery, which is an adjacent cemetery that is sometimes misidentified in obituary and death record notices). Mrs. Nickles (sic) is survived by her daughter, Mrs. B. A. Dill of Mankato, Minn., and one son Vasa Glasgow of Milwaukee Wis. She also leaves one brother and four sisters who reside in Missouri. At the time of her husband's death, which occurred seven years ago, Mrs. Nickles (sic) moved from Fairfield to Minnesota to make her home with her daughter. ------------- Fairfield Daily Ledger Tuesday July 7, 1931 Pg. 4 Col. 3 OBITUARY MRS. ANNA NICKELS Anna Belle Workman was born in LaPlata, Macon county, Missouri, March 18, 1864 and departed this life July 1st, 1931 at St. Joseph's hospital, Mankato, Minn., after an illness of two years. Being at the time of her death age 67 years three months and 13 days. She was married to Edward D. Glasgow, Dec. 20, 1885 going with him to Neihart, Montana, where Mr. Glasgow passed away on Oct. 22, 1891 (sic. where was he buried ??). Two children were born to this union. After the death of her husband Mrs. Glasgow returned to the home of her birth, coming from there to Fairfield, Iowa in the spring of 1897 where on Aug. 3, 1902 she was united in marriage to Lorn F. Nickels (sic. Larn F. Nickels) who preceded her in death August 10th, 1921. Since the death of her husband, Mrs. Nickels has spent the greater part of her time with her children. She united with the English Lutheran church in Fairfield, Iowa in 1907 where she was a faithful member and regular attendant at services as long as her health permitted. Mrs. Nickels is survived by her two children, Mrs. B. A. Dill, Mankato, Minn., and V. E. Glasgow (sic. Vasa E. Glasgow), Milwaukee, Wis., one grandson, Myrle Edward Glasgow, Milwaukee, Wis. Four sisters and one brother, Mrs. Nannie Emert and W.H. Workman of LaPlata, Mo., Mrs. Mary Mather, Arkansas City, Kans., Mrs. F. B. Tull, Kirksville, Mo., Mrs. H. J. Myers, Kansas City, Mo., and numerous other relatives. The funeral services were conducted from the Murray funeral home Sunday afternoon at 2:30 oclock in charge of Dr. U. S. Smith, pastor of the First Methodist church. Two favorite hymns of Mrs. Nickels "The Far Away Home of the Soul" and "Does Jesus Care" were sung by Mrs. W. H. Neibert and Mrs. Frank Pierson. Paul (sic. Pall) bearers were W. H. Neibert, J. E. Fleming, Albert Turner, William Turner, Gus Schillerstrom and Wesley Gaumer. Relatives and friends from a distance who attended the services were: Mr. and Mrs. B. A. Dill, Mankato, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. V. E. Glasgow, Mrs. Harry Rachow, Milwaukee, Wis., Mrs. Nannie Emert, W. H. Workman, La Plata, Mo., Mr. and Mrs. Fred Tull and daughter Harriett, Kirksville, Mo., Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Myers, Kansas City, Mo., M. S. Myers, Chicago, Ill., Mrs. Leora Connell, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Connell and family, Davenport, Ia., Mrs. Edna Overstrom, Mrs. Victor Sodergreen, Lockridge, Ia.
