Saikaly officiating. Pall bearers were Selby Sanders, Russell With, Marion Earhart, Albert Earlhart, Paul Earlhart, and Floyd Jamison. Flower bearers were Mrs. Elzene Jamison and Mrs. Nora Fisher. Mrs. Anna Bell Best, daughter of William Harvey and Lucinda Lemon Shields was born March 28, 1878 at Adams County, near Brooks, Iowa. She spent her early life in Creston, Iowa, where she attended public school. At the age of 13 years, she moved with her parents to Villisca and graduated from Villisca High School in 1897. She also attended Normal School in Atlantic. She taught school for a few years in the rural area north of Villisca. She was united in marriage to Charles Herbert Best on May 6, 1903 in Villisca, Iowa. To this union was born one daughter, Anna Myrtle. With her family, she lived in Red Oak, Dexter, Grinnell, Newell, Mason, all in Iowa and also in Fairfax, South Dakota, then returned to Villisca, Iowa in 1953, where she lived till her death. Mrs. Best was a member of the Baptist Church and later of the Christian Church in Villisca. Mrs. Best was transferred to eternal glory on January 3, 1966, 7 a.m. She died after some illness at the clarinda Municipal Hospital at the age of 87 years, 9 months, and 6 days. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, three brothers, and her husband in September 1963. She is survived by one brother, Harry Shields of Georgetown, South Carolina and one daughter, Myrtle Welsch and husband Jim; three grandchildren, Dolly Sanders and husband Selby; Jacky With and husband Russ; and Nancy Welsch, all of Denver, Colorado.
