WILLIAM HARVEY SHIELDS Mrs. William Harvey Shields, for more than thirty years a resident of Villisca, died Friday evening at 6:30 o’clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Grace Fulton, two miles northwest of Villisca. She was 75 years of age. She was born in Indiana on April 1, 1850 and was married to William Harvey Shields in Nodaway, Iowa on October 30, 1874, at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Omer Lemon. WILLIAM HARVEY SHIELDS Mrs. William Harvey Shields, for more than thirty years a resident of Villisca, died Friday evening at 6:30 o’clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Grace Fulton, two miles northwest of Villisca. She was 75 years of age. She was born in Indiana on April 1, 1850 and was married to William Harvey Shields in Nodaway, Iowa on October 30, 1874, at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Omer Lemon. She and her husband made their home for several years on a farm southeast of Nodaway; and thirty-four years ago they came to Villisca to make their home. For thirty years they lived in their residence on West Fifth Street, but for the last several months they have resided with their daughter, Mrs. Fulton. Mr. and mrs. Shields are the parents of seven children, one of whom died in infancy. Those living are Edwin, Hot Springs, South Dakota; Mrs. Grace Fulton, Villisca; Mrs. Anna Best, Grinnell, Iowa; Burleigh and Harry of Omaha; and Fred, Armour, South Dakota; One sister, Mrs. H. C. Foster of Villisca, also survives. Mrs. Shields was a charter member of the Christian Church of Villisca. Her funeral was held Monday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock with Mrs. Dessie C. Pills in charge of the service. The singing was by Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Martin, Miss Eva Arbuckle, and Ed Benson, and the pall bearers were Carl Carlson, W. J. Oviatt, Claude Query, John Hultquist, H. H. Nordyke, and Chas Foster. Interment was in the Villisca Cemetery. Those who were here from a distance for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Harry Shields and son Robert, Mr. and Mrs. Burleigh Shields and sons, Maurice and Bertram, and Herbert Shields, Omaha; Mr. and Mrs. Edwin shields and son Ervin, Hot Springs, South Dakota; and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Shields and family, New Market. D. She was born in Indiana Omar Lemon, and Mary Whitehead on April 1, 1850. Informant was her husband, William Harvey Shields. Burial in Villisca Rose Hill Cemetery, Ray Sutphen, undertaker.
