When the sad news of the death of Mrs. Annie Reed Vinzant, wife of Charles [sic] Vinzant at Detroit, Michigan, last Wednesday was received in her home community at Uniondale, her relatives and friends were greatly shocked. They could scarcely realize that she who had gone from their midst to her new home would never again be with them in person, but they will not soon forget her joyful personality and their pleasant associations with her in days gone by. Annie Kathleen Reed, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Reed, was born on a farm in the Uniondale community, June 25, 1904, where she grew to womanhood. On May 17, 1922, she was united in marriage to Charles L. Vinzant, going at once to a home prepared for her near Oak Hill, Kansas, and later moving to Clay Center. In May of last year, she, with her husband, moved to Detroit, Michigan, and on February 24, 1925, a little daughter, Donalie Jean came to bless their home. On March 25, 1925, after four weeks of severe illness this young mother for some reason which God alone fully understands, was called to a better world, where suffering and pain are unknown. At the time of her death, she was 20 years and 9 months of age. In her early girlhood she gave her heart to God, and a short time before her marriage, she with her sister, Ollie, who were always comrades, were baptized, and united with Uniondale Baptist church. Annie was a girl of sweet and quiet disposition, and was loved by all who knew her. Today, though she be gone from husband, babe, parents, brothers, sisters and all, whom she loved so well, there yet remains a very beautiful part to be told. She lived faithful to the vows she made to her God, to the very last. During her last illness though suffering greatly, she patiently trusted in God, offering her simple prayer of trust, and trying to sing hymns of praise. It is a great comfort to her loved ones to know she is safe in the arms of Jesus, and although she will never come back to them, they can go to her. Those who remain to mourn her loss, beside the host of friends she has made, are her husband, Chas. Vinzant, her infant daughter, Donalie Jean, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Reed, and Mrs. Wesley Braden, also two brothers, Joe and Stephen Reed. The body was brought from Detroit to Wakefield Saturday, and the funeral occurred at the First Methodist Church, on Sunday afternoon, at three o'clock, jointly conducted by the pastor Rev. Morgan and Rev. Wallace Carpenter, who delivered the funeral sermon. Cousins and intimate friends were the body bearers and a quartet, Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Green, Mrs. Chas. Cowell and Mr. Asahel Eustace sang. The High school class of the Wakefield High school, of which Mrs. Vinzant was a member, attended in a body. A vast crowd paid tribute and testified to the esteem in which the bereaved family is held. -------------------------
