Description	:	The Emporia Gazette, 02 Aug 1963, Friday MISS ANNA KELLEY DEAD Miss Anna Kelley, an Emporia telephone operator from 1912 until 1938, and whose home for many years was at 405 State St., died Thursday evening in St. Mary's Hospital. Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Monday in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, conducted by the Rev. Celestine Baumann, O.F.M. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Prayer service for the dead will be at 7:30 p.m. Sunday in Roberts-Blue-Barnett Chapel. Eccleston and Son Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements. The daughter of Martin and Mary Bridget Carney Kelley, Anna Kelley was born in Belleveille (sic), Ohio, came with her parents to Strong City in 1872, and to Emporia in 1890. She started to work for the old Emporia Telephone Company on Nov. 23rd, 1912, and continued after it became the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, retiring in 1938. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Holy Rosary Altar Society and the Sunflower Chapter of the Telephone Pioneers of America. She was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Thomas, and by four sisters, Mrs. Pete Newton, Misses Nora, Margaret and Agnes Kelley, and she is survived by three nephews, James I.
