She was born April 4, 1872, in Spillville, Iowa, daughter of Vaclav (Wenceslaus) (James) Kobliska and Eleonora Bruna, died August 25, 1965, at the Good Samaritan Center in Cresco, Iowa, and was buried in the family plot in the Holy Trinity Church Cemetery. They were childless. In the 1920 U. S. Census, Frank W. Jirak was listed as 53 years of age and living on South Street, in Protavin, Howard County, Iowa with his 48 years old wife Anna. Golden Anniversary Of Protivin Couple Mr. & Mrs. Frank Jirak Honored By Friends Last Sunday About 150 relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Jirak gathered in the Protivin Gym Sunday, Oct. 5, to honor them on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary. The guests were seated at three long tables extending the entire length of the spacious dining hall where a bounteous repast was served by a group of young ladies of Holy Trinity parish. Handsome Wedding Cake A brilliantly decorated three tier wedding cake made and presented by Mrs. James Pecinovaky adorned the center table where Mr. & Mrs. Jirak sat. Next to them sat J.P. Mrachek of Calmar and Mrs. Tupy who were attendants at the wedding of Mr. & Mrs. Jirak which occurred Oct. 6, 1891, at Spillville. Mrs. Tupy is a sister of Mr. Jirak. After the meal there was a short program, Frank J. Praska acting as master of ceremonies. His little daughter Irene carrying out a long established Bohemian custom extended greetings to the honored couple by reciting the following poem. Short Program There were several accordian duets and a vocal selection by Anna and Mary Pecinovsky. Short talks were made by Father Hradescky, Fatehr Ruzicka and L.P. Barth. Mr. Jirak was called on. He related how he and his young bride located on a farm in Howard county soon after their marriage. He had accumulated some livestock and farm equipment, but had to assume a heavy indebtedness, for those days, to buy a farm. By hard work and strict economy they were able to pay off the debt, and they prospered. In their declining years they have lived in Protivin in a comfortable home, respected and honored by all their acquaintences. Distant Visitors Those from a distance who attended were: Mr. and Mrs. George Wiple and Miss Annie Kobliska of Minneapolis, Joe Kobliska and son Lester, Mr. and Mrs. Neiderloh, all of Chetek, Wis. Waitresses were: the Misses Georgina Praska, Dorothy, Martha and Mildred Hosek, Mary Pecinovsky, Mabel Pecota, Anna Gelle Bouska, Mrs. Charles Bouska, Mrs. Leonard Pecinovsky, Mrs. Jim Praska. Father Hradecky on behalf of Mr. and Mrs. Jirak, expressed their appreciation for the good wishes of their many friends and to those who planned the enjoyable event in their honor. Obituary Funeral services for Frank W. Jirak, 77, of Protivin, were held last Wednesday morning at the Holy Trinity church. Mr. Jirak died Monday, June 12, at his home from heart trouble. He had been ill for eight months. Father Hradecky officiated at the services and burial was in the Holy Trinity cemetery. Pallbearers were Frank Praska, James Praska, William Praska, Robert Praska, Frank Jirak and Albert Jirak. Those who attended the funeral from a distance were Francis Kobliska and son Francis, Jr., Mrs. Rose Kobliska, Lester Kobliska and Walter Neiderloh of Duluth, Minn. Mr. Jirak was born at Spillville May 8, 1867, a son of Vaclav and Matie Jirak. He was married Oct. 6, 1891, to Anna Kobliska at the St. Wencelaus church at Spillville. Surviving with his wife are two sisters and one brother, William Jirak and Mrs. Mary Tupy of Ft. Atkinson and Mrs. James Busta of New Hampton. The deceased, a farmer, lived in Howard county before moving to his present home in 1908. He was a member of the Holy Trinity church and of the Rosary society.
