Description	:	Eleanore Kobliska On Monday morning, March 6th, 1922, occurred the death of Mrs. Eleanore Kobliska, one of the oldest residents of this part of Winneshiek county. She was born at Slavetice, Bohemia, a little over 90 years ago, her maiden name being Miss Bruna. She was married in Bohemia about 1856 to Wenceslaus Kobliska and with him she emigrated to America, about 1860 coming directly to Spillville, where she lived until her death. Read More	Eleanore Kobliska On Monday morning, March 6th, 1922, occurred the death of Mrs. Eleanore Kobliska, one of the oldest residents of this part of Winneshiek county. She was born at Slavetice, Bohemia, a little over 90 years ago, her maiden name being Miss Bruna. She was married in Bohemia about 1856 to Wenceslaus Kobliska and with him she emigrated to America, about 1860 coming directly to Spillville, where she lived until her death. They engaged in farming and she with her husband underwent all the hardships and privations usual to pioneer farmers in this part of Iowa. To their union the following surviving children were born, in order of ages: Frank, now a farmer at Bassett, Iowa, Mary, Mrs. Frank Praska of Protivin, Wentzel, a telegraph operator at Silica, Minn., Math, now owner of the home farm here, Anna Mrs. Frank Jirak of Protivin, and Joseph, a railroad man of Wayerhauser, Wis. Her husband preceded her in death many years ago. Mrs. Kobliska has spent a lifetime on the old home farm and died at her home on the corner of her farm right at the edge of town, where she has lived quite a number of years. Her death was caused by old age. The funeral took place Wednesday, March 8, 1922, at the St. Wenceslaus church and cemetery, Rev. Broz performing the last rites. The following neighbors carried the remains to her last resting place,: Wentzel Bena, Albert Novak, Sr., Albert Novak, Jr., Joseph Vitoushek, Sr., Joseph Swehla and John Silhacek. The deceased was a woman of great force of character, self reliant to the last and was a mother of whom the surviving children may be justly proud. Throughout her long life, she shirked no labor, and spared herself no sacrifice to make the lives of her children and her own happy, upright and self-dependent, and her own life's peaceful ending is the best proof of how well she succeeded. May the Lord reward her in eternity for the good example she gave us of an upright life here on earth.
