She passed away suddenly while sitting in her rocking chair on the porch of her home. At the age of seventeen years she came to the United States, and for some time made her home with her uncle, John M. Larson, at Odebolt, Iowa. In 1890 she was united in marriage to John A. Johnson, who preceded her in death in September, 1930. To this union were born seven children, Oscar, of Sioux City, Ia.; Reuben and Mrs. Elsie Bair, of Ida Grove, Ia.; Mrs. Esther Hultgren, Clifford, Mrs. Mae Ericson and Mrs. Cora Adamson, of Akron, Ia. Besides her children, she leaves to mourn her departure two brothers, Carl T. Johnson, of Chicago, and Joseph, of Sweden; her uncle, John M. Larson, of Odebolt, Ia., fifteen grandchildren and a host of friends. Nine years ago Mr. and Mrs. Johnson, with their family, moved from Odebolt, Ia., to their present home, where they worked hard to improve their farm and make a fine home for themselves. Here they Joined the Union Creek Lutheran church and took part in the church work as long as their health would permit. Mrs. Johnson was a member of the Ladies' Aid and Missionary Society of her church and was always a willing worker. She had a happy and cheerful disposition, never complaining, bearing her last long illness with cheerful patience and fortitude. She made many friends here who will greatly miss her. She was a kind and loving mother, always considerate of her family, and a kind neighbor, always ready to lend a helping hand in time of need. Her funeral was conducted by her pastor, Rev. D.J. Edward, at the Union Creek Lutheran Church Friday afternoon, July 29. A quartet sang appropriate songs, and a solo, "Going Home," was sung by Miss Wilma Ericson. A profusion of beautiful flowers showed the love and esteem for the departed. She was laid to rest in the beautiful Union Creek cemetery beside her husband. Peace to her memory. Those attending the funeral service from a distance were: Mr. and Mrs. Carl V. Johnson, of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. John M Larson, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Huldeen and daughter, Mrs. John Huldeen; Mrs. Ed. Hendrickson, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Anderson, Mrs. Chas. Kistler, Mr. and Mrs. Julius Olson and Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Fertig and daughter, of Odebolt, Ia.
