ANNA TLUSTOS Anna Tlustos, daughter of Frank and Albina Tlustos, was born June 24, 1895, and died Feb. 17, 1945, aged 49 years, 7 months and 24 days. She was born on section 16, South Fork precinct, and lived there all of her life. Her schooling was obtained at Union school, and most of her life was spent caring for her loved ones. She was industrious, conscientious, humble, and kind to all, taking life very seriously. She was a good manager and careful of her household. She was a social member of Z. C. B. J. lodge, Jan Kolar No. 101, joining March 16, 1930, and being a member 14 years and 11 months. For a while she attended Sunday school in the same school where she received her education. Her father died Oct. 4, 1920; one brother, Frank, died at Fort Riley, Kan., in October, 1918; and her mother Aug. 9, 1944. She is survived by one sister, Mary Fritch of Pawnee City, and two brothers, Joe at home and Rudolph of DuBois; three nephews, three nieces, other relatives and many friends. For a number of months Anna had not been her real self. Since the death of her mother she had remained despondent and nervous. No one knew of the burdens which beset her life. A quiet and unassuming girl, she was ever mindful of her tasks in the home. Her life became full to overflowing with her problems and to her the road had seemed to come to an end. Therefore she set her house in order, prepared the bread for human bodies and systematically set about the completion of her earthly existence, and tragically ended it some time in the afternoon, of Feb. 17. She did what she believed was the only way. We dare not judge. God in His infinite wisdom understands and will deal mercifully with her soul. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Z. C. B. J. hall, in charge of Rev. Otis Webb, assisted by F. G. Dobrovolny, and burial was in the DuBois cemetery. **************************************************************************************************** February 22, 1945- DuBois Farm Woman Takes Life Saturday Miss Anna Tlustos, Living Between Pawnee City and DuBois, Found Dead From Self-Inflicted Gunshot at Home Saturday Night. Miss Anna Tlustos, living between Pawnee and DuBois, was found dead in a bedroom of her farm home Saturday night, victim of what County Coroner E. G. Witte pronounced a serf-inflicted gunshot wound. Miss Tlustos, aged about 51, according to Mr. Witte, occupied a farm at the corner west of the Z. C. B. J. hall, living with her brother, Joe, since the death Aug. 9, 1944, of their mother, Mrs. Albina Tlustos. The father, Frank Tlustos, a long-time farmer of the DuBois vicinity, died Oct. 4, 1920. Coroner Witte, Sheriff M. J. Donahue and Dr. A. B. Anderson, who were called to the Tlustos home when the tragedy was discovered, were told by Joe Tlustos that he was out of the home at the time the shot was fired, and did not hear the gun shot. The officers found that Miss Tlustos had used a 12-guage shotgun, the barrel of which she had apparently placed against the side of her head. Surviving with the brother, Joe, are another brother, Rudolph Tlustos, and a sister, Mrs. Frank Fritch. Another brother, Frank, died Oct. 16, 1918, during the flu epidemic at Camp Funston, Kan., shortly after his induction into the army. Funeral services for Miss Tlustos were held Tuesday at the Z. C. B. J. hall northwest of DuBois and burial was in the DuBois cemetery. (Unknown Newspaper Clipping.)
