Description	:	Secretary, Church Worker Anne was born on a farm near Badger, SD, then moved to a farm in Brookings County near Lake Poinsett. After their father died they moved into Arlington, where she worked in neighbor's homes and for the superintendent of schools. She accepted Christ as her Personal Savior when she was 16. Read More	Secretary, Church Worker Anne was born on a farm near Badger, SD, then moved to a farm in Brookings County near Lake Poinsett. After their father died they moved into Arlington, where she worked in neighbor's homes and for the superintendent of schools. She accepted Christ as her Personal Savior when she was 16. The superintendent helped her get a job as secretary with the Extension Service at South Dakota State College in Brookings, SD, in 1917 and soon the whole family moved there. In 1921, with her sister Esther's help, she started a Sunday School which became the Church of God in Brookings. She met her husband, Glenn Prunty, when he was a college student and boarder at her mother's home. They were married at the Carl Gisselbeck home. The Prunty's lived in Spencer, SD, where Anne was involved in 4-H work and Sunday School. Kenneth was born in the Mitchel, SD, Hospital just before the family moved to Forestburg where Roger and Homer were born. In 1932 they moved to Hetland and one year later moved back to Brookings. Here Anne was involved in a Methodist Sunday School and became superintendent. The family then moved to Sioux Falls, SD. The Pruntys lived in Alexandria, SD, for 8 years where Anne became superintendent of the Sunday School. She was a leader in the family and involved in community activities, speaking in churches and community organizations. Much of her speaking involved her work with the WCTU. She had high integrity, and gave assistance to people on a personal basis. She was caring and helped her neighbors during the Depression as her family had a steady income. In 1942 the Pruntys moved to Chester where Terry was born, and in 1944 moved to a farm east of Brookings. Because of Glenn's health, they moved into Brookings in 1948. There Anne began working for Penny's and later for the South Dakota Press Service. After Glenn's passing, she worked for the Brookings Hospital as a receptionist, later returning to the Press Service. She retired at age 65. Anne was active in the WCTU since they lived in Alexandria, and worked to help several people who were alcoholics. She was listed in the 1966-67 "Who's Who of American Women" for her work with the WCTU, Extension Clubs, South Dakota Press Service, Legion Auxiliary, Hospital Auxiliary, and church activities. Anne was a creative thinker and writer, comfortable with being in front of people. She worked to preserve family history and kept our family in touch through family letters and get-togethers.
