ANNIE STERLING PASSED AWAY HERE Widow Of Late Chas. W. Sterling Died At Local Hospital Funeral Services Largely Attended Mrs. Annie B. Sterling, widow of the late Charles W. Sterling, who before his death a number of years ago was one of Crisfield's most prominent seafood dealers, succumbed at the McCready Memorial Hospital on Saturday last, after having been a patient at that institution for only two days. An esteemed resident of Asbury avenue, Mrs. Sterling was sixty-four years of age. She was the daughter of the late Thomas K. Whealton and Mrs. Missouri Whealton, pioneer residents of this section. As a member of the Mount Pleasant Methodist Church, Mrs. Sterling was very active in her attendance whenever health permitted her to attend the church which she loved dearly. Being of the sweet, motherly type Mrs. Sterling is known and loved by the residents of the entire community and her splendid, lovable nature will be sadly missed in the everyday life of Crisfield and the suburbs. Mrs. Sterling is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Julia Knauss, of Fairfax, Va., Mrs. Irene Murrell, and Miss Josephine Sterling, of Washington, D.C., and Mrs. Miriam Shipley, of College Park, Md., and one son, Ralph T. Sterling, of Pittston, Pa. Another son Mark Sterling, local bottling company executive, passed away a number of months ago. Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Ethel Wharton, of Philadelphia, Pa., and two brothers, Harry Whealton and Gordon Whealton, both of this city. Largely attended funeral services were conducted at 1:00 o'clock Monday afternoon from her late home on Asbury avenue with her pastor, Rev. Charles M. Elderdice, officiating. Interment was in the Asbury cemetery. Pall-bearers were William S. Sterling, William M. Wooster, J. Edwin Tawes, J. Millard Tawes, A. Wellington Tawes and Marvin H. Tawes.
