Description	:	ASBURY MATRON PASSED AWAY Mrs. Ethel I. Wharton, highly respected Asbury resident, died on Sunday at the home of her son, John Wharton, in Chester, Pa., following a heart attack. She was 74 years of age. Born here, she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas K. Whealton. Her father was Magistrate in Crisfield for a number of years. Wharton, highly respected Asbury resident, died on Sunday at the home of her son, John Wharton, in Chester, Pa., following a heart attack. She was 74 years of age. Born here, she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas K. Whealton. Her father was Magistrate in Crisfield for a number of years. She was the widow of the late John S. Wharton. Mrs. Wharton was a very active, intelligent woman, with pleasing personalty and was held in high esteem by everyone who knew her. She attended Asbury Methodist Church, and she was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary here. Always interested in civic and political affairs, she had been an active member of the United Democratic Club of Somerset County, and had helped in various local undertakings, giving considerable time to Red Cross work. Friendly, and with a lot of ability, Mrs. Wharton had been a very helpful and fine citizen. Funeral services were held yesterday, Thursday, at 2:00 p. m. in the Hinman Funeral Home here, conducted by the Rev. Walter Beckwith, pastor of Asbury Methodist Church. Burial was in Asbury Church Cemetery. Surviving her are her son, John Wharton of Chester, Pa., a daughter, Mrs. Bertha Powell of National City, Calif., two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
