She was born in Cana, Va, September 28, 1943, to the late Wise Calvin and Lucille Payne Semones. She was a graduate of Mount Airy High School and Pfeiffer University and was in the N.C. and Va. educational systems for 34 years: two years as a teacher and 32 years as a librarian. She was an avid reader and a great bridge player. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Wise and Lucille Semones.... She was born in Cana, Va, September 28, 1943, to the late Wise Calvin and Lucille Payne Semones. She was a graduate of Mount Airy High School and Pfeiffer University and was in the N.C. and Va. educational systems for 34 years: two years as a teacher and 32 years as a librarian. She was an avid reader and a great bridge player. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Wise and Lucille Semones. She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Floyd C. McGee; one son, Stephen Howard Turner of Richmond, Va.; step-daughter, Lori McGee Eggleston and her husband Tom of Wilmington, N.C.; granddaughter, Quinn Addalie Turner of Richmond, Va.; step-granddaughters: Mallory Reese Eggleston and Ann Cambell Eggleston of Wilmington, N.C.; brothers: Wise Calvin Semones and his wife Bettie of Suffolk, Va., David Martin Semones and his wife Gayle of Pilot Mountain, N.C., Jonathan Eric Semones and his wife Vicki of Mount Airy, N.C.; numerous special nieces and nephews; uncles: William Payne and his wife Donna of Cana, Va., Raymond Payne and wife Kathy of Mount Airy, N.C.; aunt, Linda Shelton and her husband David of Mount Airy, N.C. and one sister-in-law, Gloria Payne of Cana, Va. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 23, 2016, at Forest Hills Presbyterian Church with Reverend Robert Button and Reverend Bradley Long officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service or at the home at any time. Interment will be at Epworth United Methodist Church Cemetery in Cana, Va. Memorial donations may be made to Forest Hills Presbyterian Church, 725 Beechnut Lane, Martinsville, VA. 24112 or the Epworth United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 132, Cana, VA 24317.
