Description	:	ALONZO CARELTON HUTCHENS Alonzo Carelton Hutchens, son of David and Amy Hutchens, was born June 2, 1867, and departed this life July 4, 1935, aged 68 years, one month, and two days. He was united in marriage to Sarah Maria Catey July 25, 1886. To this union were born nine children, four boys and five girls. Read More	ALONZO CARELTON HUTCHENS Alonzo Carelton Hutchens, son of David and Amy Hutchens, was born June 2, 1867, and departed this life July 4, 1935, aged 68 years, one month, and two days. He was united in marriage to Sarah Maria Catey July 25, 1886. To this union were born nine children, four boys and five girls. Three have already proceeded their father in death; Amy Etelene, aged 17 months; Velma Clayton, aged 17 years, and Herschel Clell, aged 37 years. In 1885 he became a member of the United Brethren church at Old New Hope, Wayne county, Indiana. To its teachings, he remained faithful. In his early years, he was a carpenter, later he became owner of a store at Carlos, Ind. In his dealings with the public he made many friends by his absolute honesty and fair-mindedness. In 1913 he went into the grain and coal business at Stroh, Ind. Here also he made many friends and was a highly respected citizen of the community. His last years were spent on his farm near Stroh. For fourteen years he has been in poor health, the past year he was more confined to his home having suffered a stroke of paralysis. Other strokes following resulted in his death. Surviving are the widow, of Stroh; a brother, Peter W. Hutchens of Carlos, Ind.; a sister, Mrs. John Miller of Centerville, Ind.; six children, Basil D. Hutchens of Osborn, Ohio; Anna Hutchens at home, Mrs. Roscoe Coggeshall and Mrs. Russell Sink of Kendallville, Ind., Mrs. Bernard Threesh of Conuma, Ind.; a daughter-in-law Mrs. Mazie Hutchens of Modoc, Ind.; and 2 grandchildren.
