Description	:	Arnie R. Gaasland, 82, Missouri Slope Care Center, Bismarck, died there Thursday, September 7, 1989. The funeral was Saturday in Zion Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with Rev. Thomas R. Marcus, Jr., officiating. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, Bismarck. Mr. Gaasland was born January 11, 1907 at Litchville, the son of Peder and Elizabeth Gaasland. He grew up on the family farm and entered the North Dakota School for the Deaf in 1913. He graduated in 1926 and worked on farms in the LItchville area. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, Bismarck. Mr. Gaasland was born January 11, 1907 at Litchville, the son of Peder and Elizabeth Gaasland. He grew up on the family farm and entered the North Dakota School for the Deaf in 1913. He graduated in 1926 and worked on farms in the LItchville area. He married Lydia Schumacher October 14, 1939 at Streeter. They farmed in the Marion and Tappen areas before moving to Bismarck in 1965. He worked for Park Hill Nursery, Lincoln Oakes Nursery, Apple Creek Country Club, Midco Theaters and Kirkwood Motor Inn. Arnie had a special love for trees and flowers. Casketbearers were Harry VanHal, Edwin Rau, Jacob Mertz, Emil Reuer, Art Wentz and Adam Dockter. He is survived by his wife, one daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Robert Robinson, Bismarck; two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and JoAnn, Mandan, and Gary and Dorene, Bismarck; two sisters, Jenny Molvik, Grenora and Helen VanHal, Sanborn, one brother, John, Glenwood, MN and six grandchildren.
