She was Born May 8, 1894 in Highland County a daughter of James Knox Polk and Mary Jane Simmons Eye. She was a member of the Monterey Presbyterian Church and had been employed at the old Monterey Hotel before retirement. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Arnie Alice Eye, 95, of Staunton, formerly of Monterey, died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 1990 at the Staunton Manor Nursing Home. She was Born May 8, 1894 in Highland County a daughter of James Knox Polk and Mary Jane Simmons Eye. She was a member of the Monterey Presbyterian Church and had been employed at the old Monterey Hotel before retirement. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving are four grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday from the Obaugh Funeral Home by the Rev. Frank Hall. Burial will be in the White Cemetery. Highland Recorder March 17, 1933 Miss Arnie Eye and son Clyde have moved into one of the Jones-Bishop apartments. Highland Recorder December 8, 1933 Miss Arnie Eye has moved from the Bishop-Jones Apartment to her parents’ home a short distance north of town. Highland January 6, 1939 A marriage license was issued Dec. 26 to Charles Middleton of Pennsylvania, and Miss Arnie Eye, daughter of James K. P. Eye and Mrs. Mary Catherine Simmons Eye of Monterey. Place of marriage, Monterey Methodist parsonage by the Rev. J. H. Light officiating. Highland Recorder January 20, 1939 Mrs. Charles Middleton of Pennsylvania, is visiting in the home of her sister, Mrs. Ed Hiner, on Franklin Road. Mrs. Middleton will be remembered as the former Miss Arnie Eye.
