Description	:	Highland Recorder August 19, 1949 Mr. Lafayette Eye, 69, died suddenly Saturday August 13, in Washington, D.C. He had fallen in the street when the police found him and he died at 3:54 p.m. at the Gallagher hospital, having suffered a stroke. He had been here with his mother, having returned to his home in Washington only a little more than a week prior to his death. Mr. Eye was a son of Mr. and Mrs. James Knox Polk Eye and was born here September 14, 1879. Funeral services were held at he Asbury Church Monday at 2 p.m. by the Rev J.G. Long Jr. He is survived by his widow, Mrs Sally Davis Eye who was a native of West Virginia, one daughter, Mrs. Clara Beck, California State, his aged mother, Mrs. Mary C. Eye, three brothers, Charles A. Eye, Monterey, David Eye, Danville, Illinois and Ira Eye, Webster Springs, W.Va.; also three sisters, Mrs. Lloyd Rexrode, Miss Arnie Eye, Mrs. Ed Hiner all of Monterey, also a large number of nieces and nephews survive. Interment was in the Puffenbarger cemetery. Highland Recorder March 8, 1901 STRAIT CREEK NEWS Mr. Lafayette Eye and Miss Artie Gum of near this place were united in marriage at the home of Josiah Beverage, the 2nd inst, Rev. Mr. Beverage officiating.
