HIGHLAND RECORDER JANUARY 13, 1905 MARY EYE PASSES AWAY Mrs Mary Simmons Eye, of Franklin Road (Monterey) died Monday morning. January 9, 1950, at the home of her son-in-law and daughter Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Rexrode on Town Hill, after a protracted illness. Her age was 93 years, one month And 12 days, having been born on November 28, 1866, in Highland County. She was married to James Polk Eye, of this county, who preceded her in death nine years ago. To this union thirteen children were born, nine sons and four daughters. Seven of the children preceded her in death. Surviving are: Mrs Lloyd Rexrode, Mrs Ed Hlner, Mrs Arnie Eye, Charlie Eye of Monterey; Ira Eye, Webster Springs, W.Va.; Dave Eye, Illinois; 18 grandchildren, 38 great-grand children, three great-great- grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. Mrs Eye was a good woman and had been a faithful and consistent member of the Methodist Church, having become a member very early in life. Funeral services were, conducted at Asbury Church Wednesday after noon, January 11 at one o'clock, by the Rev. Beale, assisted by Rev. A.E. Johnson. Scripture readings were: Psalms 23 and 39 and a portion of the 14th chapter of John. Quotations from Thanatopsis by Bryant and Others by Meigs followed the Bible reading. Favorite hymns of the deceased had been chosen: Sometime We'll Understand; Shake Hands With Mother Again; Jesus lover of My Soul and Shall We Meet. Interment took place in the family lot of the cemetery nearby.
