Arthur Christensen was born on a farm west of Wolbach, Nebraska, August 24, 1888. He was the son of James Christensen and his wife Ane Hansen. It was in the vicinity of Wolbach that he was to spend his entire life, with the exception of a brief period in which he served during World War I in the American Expeditionary Forces. He passed from this life on October 13, 1960 at his farm home west of Wolbach at the age of 72 years, one month and twenty days. Death was caused by asthma and heart failure. On June 27, 1922 at Greeley, Nebraska, he was married to Ethel Banks of Burwell, Nebraska. They spent their entire married life on a farm near Wolbach. Mr. Christensen was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. For many years he was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church of Wolbach and then of Trinity Lutheran church in Wolbach. In this life he served his fellow man in many different ways. While serving with the 32nd Division of the United States Army during World I, he was wounded and as a result received the Purple Heart decoration. This last Memorial Day he was honored for forty years membership in the America Legion by his comrades of the Ray Mapes Post 236 of Wolbach of which he was Past-Commander. He leaves to mourn his passing in addition to his wife, two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Tempest of Omaha, Nebraska, and Mrs. Sena Johnson of Wolbach; two brothers, Chris J. Christensen and J. W. Bill Christensen, both of Wolbach; and many nephews and nieces. Preceding him in death were his parents, one brother and four sisters. (Out of town attendees followed.)
