Description	:	The sudden demise of Arthur Ericson last Monday evening brought a veil of sorrow and grief over this community and a sadness to his home which only those can know who have lost a dear one so suddenly. Last Friday evening, as they had finished threshing at his home, Arthur was in the act of elevating up the last load of wheat into the granary, when he in some way stepped too near the tumbling rod, which caught in his overalls and twisted, his leg around the rod, breaking the bones and severing the arteries. Read More	The sudden demise of Arthur Ericson last Monday evening brought a veil of sorrow and grief over this community and a sadness to his home which only those can know who have lost a dear one so suddenly. Last Friday evening, as they had finished threshing at his home, Arthur was in the act of elevating up the last load of wheat into the granary, when he in some way stepped too near the tumbling rod, which caught in his overalls and twisted, his leg around the rod, breaking the bones and severing the arteries. The muscles were terribly lascerated, the skin torn off around the leg and the bones protruded into the ground. His father heard him cry out and stopped the gas engine at once, but he bled terribly before they could get his leg loose from the rod. Drs. Kerr and Mattison, of Akron, were called and dressed the limb in an effort to save his foot, but after three days of terrible suffering blood poisoning set in and in an effort to save his life Dr. Knott, of Sioux City, was called Monday afternoon. He, together with the local doctors, amputated his leg; but about an hour after the operation he passed away, at 8 o'clock Monday evening. The whole community extends their deepest sympathy to the so sadly bereaved parents and sister, and may God, who gave and has taken away their son and brother, comfort them in this their dark hour of sorrow..
