Description	:	John E. Ericson passed away at his home in Akron on Sunday, March 7, 1943. He suffered a heart attack about three Weeks ago, and gradually grew weaker, His granddaughter, Mrs. D.C. Vick, came from Chicago, Ill., and nursed him tenderly until the end. John Ericson was born in Ange Ofvansjo, Sweden, November 10, 1865. He suffered a heart attack about three Weeks ago, and gradually grew weaker, His granddaughter, Mrs. D.C. Vick, came from Chicago, Ill., and nursed him tenderly until the end. John Ericson was born in Ange Ofvansjo, Sweden, November 10, 1865. In 1869 he came to America with his patents, Mr. and Mrs. Olof Ericson who took up a homestead in Sioux Valley Township, Union county, S.D. then Dakota Territory. Here, in the hard school of pioneer days, John grew up to young manhood. He was confirmed at the age of fifteen and became a member of the Union Creek Lutheran church. On October 30, 1887, he was united in marriage with Miss Mathilda Back Jacobson. To this union two children were born Mrs. John Hultgren and Arthur E. both of whom preceded him in death. In 1917 he moved from his farm in Union county to Akron and established a home here. His wife died in 1928, which was a great loss and sorrow to him. Since then he has lived alone in his, fine home, which was kept as orderly as his wife left it. Since coming to Akron he followed the carpenter trade. He was industrious, honorable, a good neighbor; faithful to his church, in which he served as deacon for fifty-three years, the last few years as deacon emeritus. He is survived by his granddaughter. Mrs. D.C. Vick, of Chicago; two brothers, William and Martin Ericson, of Akron, and two sisters, Mrs. Louise Harker, of Hawarden, Iowa, and Mrs. E.A. Hultgren, of Akron. Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 9, at 2:30 p. m. at the home and at 3:00 p.m. at the Union Creek Lutheran church, conducted by Student Pastor Leslie Olson. Duets were sung by Mrs. Esther Hultgren and: Mrs: Lee Stoutenburg. Pallbearers were nephews. Beautiful flowers were given by relatives and an appreciated sum of money by friends in memoriam for charitable institutions. He was laid to rest by the side of his dear ones in the Union Creek cemetery. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Peace to his memory.
