The Megrue-Price Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. The third child of Peter and Matilda Madison Hanson, he was born Sept. 15, 1897, at Crescent, Iowa, near Council Bluffs, Iowa. They lived in the Aroca and Harlan, Iowa area until March 1, 1906, when he moved with his parents and family to Hardy, Nuckolls County, Nebraska. He attended Churchhill School, Dist. 59 north of Hardy and Hardy High School. In the spring of 1914, they moved to the Abdal vicinity where he lived for six years, then moving to York County in 1920. Returning to Nuckolls County, he worked in the Superior, Abdal and Bostwick areas and two short periods of time at the Cement Plant and Abdal Elevator. He farmed five miles north of Abdal for one year. December 6, 1923, he was united in marriage to Christine Block at the family home north of Bostwick by the Rev. J. C. Carlsen, pastor of the Bethany Lutheran Church near Ruskin. They moved to a farm one mile west of Abdal where they lived for 18 years. He was a member of the board of directors at the Abdal elevator. In 1942, they moved to an adjoining farm where they lived for 22 years before retiring and moving to their home in Superior. His life-long ambition was to visit Denmark, the land of his father and the childhood years of his wife. In May, 1961, they went to New York City where they sailed to Copenhagen. They were gone for four and one-half months, traveling more than 17,000 miles. They visited eight European countries. In September, 1974, they again visited Denmark. Mr. and Mrs. Hanson have traveled in 39 states, two provinces and three states in Mexico. Two winters they lived in Florida and 15 years they lived in the Rio Grande Valley at their home in Edenburg, Texas. Active in local and county affairs, he was secretary of the Abdal School District No. 92, for 17 years, a member of the Farmers Union Local No. 81 for 10 years, Nuckolls County Rural School Boards Association and was purchasing agent for the same, a member of the Nuckolls County Tax League and the Nuckolls County Noxious Weed Authority for 10 years. After attending the Bethel Lutheran Church near Abdal until its dissolution, he joined the United Methodist Church where he was a member at the time of his death. Preceding him in death were his parents, one brother, Charles and two sisters, Grace Hanson and Ann Wittmeyer. Survivors are his wife, Christine; three sons, LeRoy of Sioux City, Iowa, Burdette of Superior, and Norman of Denver; two brothers, Eugene of Lodi, Calif., and Ralph, Lincoln; three granddaughters; five great-grandchildren and many other relatives.
