Barlett Arthur M. Barlett Sr. , a former Fairfield resident, passed away at his home in Ottumwa yesterday morning at 6:10 o'clock. Death came from a sudden heart attack after a prolonged illness of several years. He celebrated his 76 birthday October 17 and a number of friends called to see him during the day and he was feeling unusually well. For several years Mr. Bartlett and his family made Fairfield their home and Mr. Bartlett was operator and ticket agent for the C.B. & Q. railroad going to a like position in Ottumwa in 1889. Of later years he was a painting contractor. Funeral services will be held at the family residence in Ottumwa at 1:30 tomorrow afternoon and burial will be in the Evergreen cemetery here. His wife preceded him in death April 11, 1927, also a son, Charles R. on November 18, 1927 and a daughter Zella A. on October 19, 1889. Two daughters, Mrs. Jessie B. Teal of Kilbourne and Mrs. Anna B. Ward of Seattle, Wash. and three sons, Emery H., Arthur M. Jr., and Carl J. all of Ottumwa survive. He also leaves four granddaughters and three grandsons. ------------------------------- Fairfield Daily Ledger Monday Jan. 25, 1926 Pg. 2 Col. 2 Invitations To Golden Wedding ".... Arthur Bartlett and Fannie Jones were married at the Jones home in Salina, on January 27, 1876. Mrs. E. A. Parsons, who at that time answered the roll call as Angie Parks (sic. maiden name was Park, not Parks; see: Angeline Park Parsons), was their brides maid and is the only person living that attended the wedding of fifty years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Bartlett are the parents of six children and they are all expected to be present at this occasion. They are former Fairfield people, having moved from here 35 years ago to Ottumwa. Mr. Bartlett was in the employ of the "Q" railroad while here, and they still have many friends here who will congratulate them in reaching this milestone in their matrimonial venture."
