In infancy he was baptized in the Lutheran church. Mr. Riel was confirmed in Grace Lutheran church of Geneva in 1927 and remained a member of that church until his death. Read More	RIEL, ARTHUR PAUL—Arthur Paul Riel, son of John Riel and his wife Anna, nee Tobiassen, was born November 4, 1913, west of Geneva in Fillmore county, Nebraska. In infancy he was baptized in the Lutheran church. Mr. Riel was confirmed in Grace Lutheran church of Geneva in 1927 and remained a member of that church until his death. September 16, 1950, Arthur Riel and Phyllis Most were united in holy wedlock in Lincoln, Neb. Their marriage was blessed with three children, two daughters and one son. Mr. Riel, a life-long resident of this community, was engaged in farming until the time of his death, although, because of failing health, the decision was made some time ago to retire. Mr. Riel departed this life Saturday, December 11, 1971, at the hospital in Henderson, Neb., at the age of 58 years, one month and seven days. He was preceded in death by his father and one brother. Another brother and one sister died in infancy. Mourning his departure are his wife, Phyllis; two daughters, Paula and Sharon, and one son John all of the home in Geneva; also his mother, Mrs. Anna Riel of Geneva; two sisters, Doris (Mrs. Rex Philippi) of Bruning and Miss Helen Riel of Geneva, and many other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held at 2 p. m. Tuesday, December 14, at Grace Lutheran church in Geneva with Rev. Chalmer Westhoff officiating. Mrs. Max Bornschlegl and Mrs. Mervin Baumann accompanied by Miss Gail Schinzel, organist, sang “A Mighty Fortress is Our God” and “Just As I Am.” Pallbearers were Kenneth Boyes, Marvin Dockter, Murray Holmes, Warren Oates, Frank Otte and Theodore Petersen.
