Read More	ART W.BLACHLEY KILLED IN ACCIDENT SUNDAY MORNING Rites For Well Known Akron Man Are Held Tuesday Afternoon Another of a seines of fatal auto acidents to people of Akron vicinity happened at about 2 o'clock last Sunday morning, taking the life of A.W. Blachley, a well-known resident of this city. Mr. Blachloy, in company, with Delmar McMillan, also of this city, left here late Saturday night in the owner's auto, McMillan doing the driving, ostensibly bound for Sioux City. They crossed to the South Dakota side over the "white bridge," a few miles below Westfield, and took the cut-off road to the point where it joins the paved highway, 50-77, below Jefferson. They evidently did not oberve the stop sign there and ran cross the pavement, their car crashing into the ditch on the other side. Both men are reported to have been thrown out of the auto by the impact, as a quantity of seed corn in the rear seat covered the front compartment after the wreck. Mr. Blachley was apparently killed instantly. Mr. McMillian hailed a passing auto and was taken to Elk Point, where he received medical attention and was later put in the county jail there to await official investigation of the accident. He is understood to have sustained fractured ribs and cuts on his face, head and hands; but his injuries were not considered serious. Mr. Blachley's body was brought to the Ross Funeral home in Akron. A coroner's jury from Elk Point and Sheriff Edward Ekren visited the scene of the fatal accident Sunday morning to investigate and gather evidence. The coroner's jury held a hearing in the office of Coroner H.F. Bright in Elk Point, Tuesday, at 2 p.m. Mr. Blachley’s death was found to have been accidental. McMillan was held on a charge of driving while intoxicated, and on a county attorney's information in Judge Oscar Beck's court was sentenced to 30 days in the county jail and a fine of $50 and costs Artill William Blachley, son of Mr. and Mrs. A.V. Blachley, was born in Lincoln, Nebr., December 22, 1889, and died April 19, 1942, at the age of 52 years and 4 months. He was one of a family of five children. On June 10, 1924, he was united in marriage with Edna Ogle, of Cherokee, Iowa. To this union one daughter, Lorraine, was born. He was baptized in the Christian church in Cherokee in 1916. Mr. Blachley and family came to Akron about eight years ago. He was employed as an auto mechanic for a time. Recently he has been working for V.G. Adams, local implement dealer and also has been selling seed corn. He was of a jovial nature and a hard worker. Mr. Blachley is survived by his wife and daughter, Lorraine; two sisters, Mrs. Ada Maus, of Orange, Cal., and Mrs. May Hininger, of Neosho, Mo., and a brother, Boyd R., of Sioux City, Iowa. The community offers its sympathy to the relatives in their bereavement. His parents preceded him m death, and a brother, Paul, passed away in 1915. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 1 o'clock in the First Christian church here, Rev. W.J. Zane, the pastor, officiating. There was a large attendance. Hymns were sung by Herman Behmer. The pall-bearers were V.G. Adams, Arthur Adams, Edward Adams, H. Cummins Arnold Brundeen and W.H. McDonald. Interment was in the Afton cemetery, north of Cherokee, Iowa.
