Damratowski (Obituary) August Damratowski, long time resident of this community, was born in Poland August 28, 1868, and died April 7, 1947, at the family home. Mr. Damratowski had been ill with pneumonia for three weeks prior to his death. Mr. Damratowski came to this country at the age of 21 and located in Chicago, Ill. On May 1, 1892, he was united in marriage to Rose Chilmanski. To this union eight children were born, four preceding their father in death. In 1908, Mr. and Mrs. Damratowski and children moved to Sherman county where they engaged in farming until 1924. Since then Mr. and Mrs. Damratowski resided in Loup City where he was employed at the Beushausen Furniture store for ten years, before his retirement. He is survived by his wife, Rose; four sons, Felix, Frank and Walter of Loup City and Ed of Chicago; fourteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral services were held from St. Josaphat church at Loup City April 10, with Rev. Henry Bednarczyk, Rev. Ben Cabanski and Rev. Thomas Sindowski in charge. Burial was made in St. Josaphat cemetery.
