Description	:	Dayton Review January 31, 1901 AUGUST F. JOHNSON August F. Johnson was born in Säby Socken, Jönköping Län, Sweden, September 6, 1831. Here he grew to manhood and lived more than half of his life. On November 1, 1859, he was married to Miss Johanna Newman, who still survives him. Twelve children came to bless their union, five of whom have preceded their father to the land beyond. Read More	Dayton Review January 31, 1901 AUGUST F. JOHNSON August F. Johnson was born in Säby Socken, Jönköping Län, Sweden, September 6, 1831. Here he grew to manhood and lived more than half of his life. On November 1, 1859, he was married to Miss Johanna Newman, who still survives him. Twelve children came to bless their union, five of whom have preceded their father to the land beyond. In 1879, he became attracted by the opportunities afforded by America, and came across the water, locating near this place. Here he and his family have made their home ever since, with the exception of five years spent in the northern part of the state near Curlew. During the past winter he has been quite poorly and finally yielded to the call of his Master last Wednesday morning, just as the sun was appearing over the eastern horizon, the herald of a new day. He is survived by his aged wife, four sons, three daughters, and a brother and sister in Sweden, five grandchildren, all of whom together with friends and relatives mourn the memory of him who has gone before. Mr. Johnson united with the Swedish M.E. church of this place August 11, 1880, and has been a faithful member of that church until death called him to his triumphant home. The sorrowing family have the sympathy of a host of friends in this vicinity, who commend them to the source of all blessings in their hour of grief. The funeral exercises were held on Sunday afternoon from the Swedish M.E. church, Rev. Seaberg preaching the sermon from Judges 5:31, and the remains were laid to rest in Dayton Cemetery.
