Description	:	Born Johann August Pehrsson, son of Pehr Jonasson and Lisa Larsdotter, in the village of Västra Gardstrop, Borgstena Parish, then-Älvsborgs Län [county], Sweden [Älvsborgs, an old Swedish county established in 1634, ceased to exist 31 Dec 1998 when it, the counties of Gothenburg, Bohus and Skaraborg were merged to form Västra Götaland Län]. Soon after immigrating to the U.S. with his wife and three children about 1866, August adopted the surname Page. Soon after immigrating to the U.S. with his wife and three children about 1866, August adopted the surname Page. In 1870, August, Charlotte and five Page children were enumerated in Montgomery Co, IL. The family's stay in Illinois was brief. In 1872 the family removed to Hamilton Co., NE, where August took up a homestead. He first constructed a sod house in which the family lived until 1876. He then built one of the first frame houses [12' x 20'] in Hamilton County. He also built a stable, granary and corral. He transplanted a large grove of trees on the homestead from along the Platte River [information from records of the U.S. Land Office and the Hamilton County Court House, Aurora, NE]. About 1892 the family moved to a farm near Clarks, Merrick Co., NE, where two sons died in 1903 and August himself passed away in 1907. August and his wife, Charlotte, were the parents of 11 known children: Pehr Linus, Amanda Josephine, Adolph D., Matilda Hannah, Anna, John, William, Clara Charlotte, Lafene, Emma Elizabeth and Alvin Oscar. __________ "Central City Record" [Central City, Merrick Co., NE], Thursday, 31 Oct 1907, Clarks personals, p. 8: August Page, who was stricken with apoplexy one day last week, died at his home here Wednesday night, aged 74 years, 9 months and 15 days. The remains will be taken to Central City tomorrow for burial. ___________ From undated clipping, publication unknown. August Page, a prominent farmer residing near Clarks, died Thursday [24 Oct 1907] his ailment being paralysis. He was well known over the county, and had several grown children, among them being Mrs. Albert Lear of this city. ____________________
