Her parents were Friedrich Berndt and Christine nee Tettenborn. In Germany she was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith by Pastor Rabe on March 29th. Her parents were Friedrich Berndt and Christine nee Tettenborn. In Germany she was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith by Pastor Rabe on March 29th. At the age of 15 she, with her parents, immigrated to America, establishing their home in Desplaines, Ill. On the 5th of March she was married to Peter C. Einspahr in Chicago, Ill., by Pastor Reinke. On March 15, 1876, she with her husband came to Nebraska and tok (sic) up a homestead in Wanda township (sic), Adams county (sic). They both were charter members of Zion Lutheran church (sic) and took much interest in the development of the church they loved. From this union 19 children were born. Of these 11 are still with us. She is mourned by her husband, Peter C. Einspahr and her eleven children, namely: Mr and Mrs Fred Nienhuesetr of Juniata, Mr and Mrs Ben Einspahr of Lexington, Mr and Mrs Julius Einspahr of Stratton, Colo., Mr and Mrs Amandus Einspahr of Orange, Calif., Mr and Mrs Elmer Gangwish of Hastings, Ernest Einspahr of Fagler (sic), Colo., Mr and Mrs Fred Roeder of Kenesaw, Mr and Mrs Pete Einspahr of Flager, Colo., Rev and Mrs. R Einspahr of Holyoke, Colo., Mr and Mrs Arthur Einspahr of Juniata, Mr and Mrs Lorenz Einspahr of Holyoke, Colo., and 66 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren, one brother, William Berndt of Chicago, Ill., two cousins, Mrs Fred Harms and Fred Beirow of Holstein. Grandma Einspahr knew that her end was approaching and prepared herself with God's Word, prayer and partaking of the Lord's Supper. Suffering from attacks of an internal malady she was rushed to the Mary Lanning hospital (sic) in Hastings. Being conscious nearly to her end, she pased (sic) away on last Saturday, April 17, 1937, at 8 o'clock in the evening, having reached the age of 77 years, 4 months and 17 days. Her pastor, Rev. A. W. Wilk of Zion Lutheran church (sic) officiated at her funeral which was held on April 20, 1937. Her body was laid to rest in Zion Lutheran cemetery (sic). The following were the pallbearers: Leonard Nienhueser, Walter Nienhueser, Raymond Einspahr Harold Gangwish and Harley Einspahr. Flower girls were Neola Roeder and Nelda Einspahr.
