Read More	AUGUSTUS WARD DIES AT HOME IN LAWSONIA AFTER SEVERAL MONTHS ILLNESS Twice Elected To Serve County in Maryland Legislature Won Fame As Writer; Author Of Dale King Augustus Ward died at his home in Lawsonia Wednesday night after a lingering illness, caused by a complication of diseases. He was 54 years of age and for the past several months had been a great sufferer. With the passing of "Gus," as he was familiarly known, Crisfield and Somerset county loses one of its most highly respected and progressive citizens. Since arriving at maturity he had been an ardent Republican, always present at councils of his party and for many years a political leader in Asbury District and lower Somerset county. He twice represented Somerset in the Maryland General Assembly. He was first elected in 1913 and again in 1930. In the session of 1914 and again in the session of 1931 he was credited with much constructive legislation and at all times was not only ready but willing to fight to the limit for the passage of any and all bills for the advancement of his county or its interests. Mr. Ward at an early age, gifted as an orator and writer, contributed numerous articles and stories to some of the leading newspapers and magazines in the country and in the past few years has written several books which were accepted by a large publishing house. Among those are "Dale King" and "Down In Maryland." As an orator the deceased was considered among the best not only in Somerset but in the State of Maryland. He was always in demand as a speaker for his party during campaigns in the county and in the interest of state candidates at various points on the Eastern Shore. On numerous occasions he was called upon to broadcast over the radio in the interest of different civic and religious organizations of the State, always acquitting himself with honor. He was a loyal and conscientious member of Asbury Methodist Episcopal Church; a kind and loving husband and father; a man of pleasing personality and was loved and respected by all with whom he came in contact. His passing is much regretted by all in the community in which he lived and labored. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Pearl Ward; two sons, A. Lincoln and Dale King Ward; his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. George Ward; four sisters, Mrs. James M. Moore, Mrs. Thomas Coulbourne, Mrs. Walter Sears and Mrs. Ralph Nelson. Funeral services will be held at Asbury M.E. Church, in Lawsonia, tomorrow (Sunday) morning at 10:30 o'clock, taking the place of the regular morning service. Rev. T.J. Sard, pastor of the church, will preach the sermon. Interment will be in Asbury Cemetery. A delegation representing the Maryland General Assembly will be present at the funeral and will act as pall bearers and honorary pall bearers.
