Read More	MRS. IDA WARD DIED AT SUBURBAN HOME One of Somerset county's most esteemed citizens, Mrs. Ida Ward, widow of the late George W. Ward, passed away at her home in Calvary, a suburb of this city, at shortly before 3:30 o'clock Tuesday morning. She had been in declining health for a number of years and death was due to complications and advanced age. Mrs. Ward was eighty years of age and was the daughter of the late Augustus Lawson and Sally Lawson, who have been dead some three quarters of a century. When she was little more than an infant, Mrs. Ward's father met death by drowning and only a few years later she was left an orphan by the death of her mother. She was the mother of the late Augustus "Gus" Ward, author, poet and orator, who wrote such well-known works as "Dale King, Apostle of Sunshine," "Down In Maryland," and others, and who died about a decade ago. No more noble soul ever lived than Mrs. Ward; no kinder, sweeter person ever trod the soil of this community. Hers was a fine, Christian character and she had been a member of Asbury Methodist Church practically her entire life. She loved her home, her church and her community, in which, she was born, reared and spent her entire days, dearly. Though it wasn't always possible for her to be in attendance at the church services, her heart ever went out to the efforts of the institution and the good works that it was achieving, and was endeavoring to achieve. Mrs. Ward was a fine wife and mother, a true friend, and a wonderful neighbor, loved dearly by all with whom she came into contact. She will be sadly missed by her ever increasing circle of friends, who can gain comfort from the knowledge that she was truly a good woman and that now she will rest in peace in her Home above. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. James Moore, Mrs. Ralph Nelson, Mrs. Thomas Coulbourne and Mrs. Walter Sears, seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, all of the Crisfield suburbs. Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock from the Asbury Methodist Church with the pastor, Rev. J.T. Rowlenson, assisted by Rev. Roy L. Tawes, a former Asbury resident now preaching at Hurlock, Md., officiating. Burial was in the Asbury cemetery. Pall-bearers were Weldon Ward, Loren Sterling, Arthur Marshall, Herman Sterling, Mar Lee Ward and Stephen Ward. Ward, 23, Boatsman of Somerset County, MD married Ida Lawson, 18, of Somerset County, MD, on 24 Apr 1878. Rev. George W. Townsend, pastor of Asbury M.E. Church, conducted the ceremony.
