Read More	Stratford Courier October 1945 After an illness covering several years, Axel Anderson died Tuesday evening, Oct. 23, at 9:30 o'clock in his home here. He had been in poor health since he had a light stroke about four years ago, which left him partially speechless. Axel Anderson was born in Mjolby, Östergötland, Sweden, Dec. 8, 1867, and died in Stratford, Oct. 23, 1945, at the age of 77 years, 10 months and 15 days. He was baptized as an infant in the Christian faith as taught and confessed by the Lutheran church in Sweden. He was indoctrinated and confirmed at the age of 14 years. In the year of 1891 he was united in marriage to Hedda Matilda Jonson in Sweden and for a time they made their home there. The family came to this country April 19, 1919, and located in Stratford. His wife preceded him in death several years ago. He leaves to mourn his death five children, Erick Anderson, Mrs. Elsa Johnson, Mrs. Marie Fostberg, Mrs. Helga Swanson and Tyra Anderson, all of Stratford, 9 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and two brothers in Sweden. As long as he was able he read his Bible daily and loved to read out loud to his family. He was a member of the Stratford Lutheran church. Last rites were held Saturday afternoon with a brief service in the home at 1:30 and at the Lutheran church at 2 o'clock. Three songs were sung by Mrs. E.J. Johnson and Mrs. John A. Anderson, entitled: "In the Sweet Bye and Bye," "Jesus Keep Me Near the Cross," and "Nearer My God to Thee," with Mrs. Lloyd Angstrom playing the accompaniments. The Rev. F. William Hanson conducted the services and used for his text words found in Matt 13:18-23. The remains were interred in the South Marion cemetery, with the following serving as casket bearers: W.R. Holstrom, Emily Berglund, L.W. Johnson, August Johnson, John A. Anderson and Leonard Brandt.
