She passed away on February 12, 2011, at the St. John’s Good Samaritan Home in Kearney at the age of 96 years, ten months and six days. She was one of four children in the family. Read More	SOUBA, B. ARLENE—B. Arlene Souba was born to Arthur W. and Effie Danielson Larson on April 6, 1914, in the Geneva Hospital in Geneva. She passed away on February 12, 2011, at the St. John’s Good Samaritan Home in Kearney at the age of 96 years, ten months and six days. She was one of four children in the family. Arlene graduated from Geneva High School with the class of 1932. On February 6, 1938, she married Lester Souba in York. To this union, five daughters were born. They spent the first five years of their marriage in Milledgeville, Ill., where Lester worked on the farm of Richard and Edith Graehling. During that time, Arlene became a master canner, seamstress, housewife and mother. After the death of her father, Arthur Larson, they moved back to Geneva to farm. Arlene spent many years volunteering at the United Methodist Church and was a member of the Geneva Women’s Auxiliary Club for over 30 years. As a housewife, she cooked, canned planted a large garden each spring until 2003, sewed numerous outfits for her daughters, and enjoyed traveling as a snowbird in her late 60’s all the way until her early 90’s. She was also a doting grandmother who spent quality time with her grandchildren, teaching them with cooking experiences and a great deal of love mixed in. Arlene is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers and loving husband, Lester Souba. Survivors include daughters, Judith Fessler and husband Duane; Pam Cloran; Pat Braum and husband Robert; grandchildren, Paul Fessler, Julie Fessler Oldfather, Patrick Fessler, Kari Braun, Jamie Braun, Scott Braun, Melissa Braun, Theresa Reutzel, Shane Reutzel and Chad Reutzel; sister Elizabeth “Bette” Gratopp and husband Stuart, sister-in-law, Doris “Maxine” Souba Kriebel; ten great-grandchildren, six nieces and five nephews. Services were held on February 18 at the Farmer and Son Funeral Home in Geneva with Pastor Ron Harris officiating the service. The recorded selections of “Amazing Grace” “In the Garden” and “Angles Among Us” were played during the service. Pallbearers for the service included Jamie Braun, Scott Braun, Paul Fessler, Patrick Fessler, Chad Reutzel, and Shane Reutzel. Honorary bearers were Stuart Gratopp, Larry Larson, Mitch Hedden, Jerry Lauber, and Brad Lauber. Interment was held in the Geneva Public Cemetery. The Nebraska Signal February 23rd, 2011 page 4.
